The modern day church is a multimedia machine, requiring custom graphics, videos, and traditional print media. Earlier in my career I did some part time work for local churches, mainly focusing on series graphics to reinforce a central theme.
These graphics were done using Photoshop by compositing stock photos and using various other digital painting techniques.
Crank it up is a redrawing and embellishment of a small thumbnail graphic someone had sent me.
Photoshop captured me early on when I found out that not only could I alter reality, I could create it. For Bailout, Chasing Lions, and The Great Chase, I constructed the scenes that I saw in my head. It definitely doesn't achieve photorealism, but at the time of their creation, I was happy with the stylized end product.
The church is actually responsible for my early interest in graphic design. It was a great avenue to hone some design chops and creative skills, and most importantly explore and play.
